Final Reflective Blog Post

Throughout this semester we have had many assignments that we had to do, and most of them I enjoyed doing. Even though I enjoyed these assignment i did a few moments of wobble. Theses moments were two of our biggest grades. The first was writing my second and third draft of my literacy narrative, it took me a long time to figure out how i wanted to do it and what i wanted to write about because I loved the first draft so much that it was hard for me to rewrite it. I still completed the assignment but until this day I still like my first draft better because I really showed a side on me that I don't like to show a lot of people. I am glad that I eventually got though it. I really enjoyed this semester and I am sad that this class is ending but it couldn't last forever. I hope everyone has a great rest of the year.

Literacy Narrative Reflection

Writing my literacy narrative was one of the things I enjoyed doing most in this class. It was challenging to figure out what I wanted to write about but once I got inspired I decided to use a metaphor and wrote about a hard time in my life and how it relates to writing it ended up being a  really great paper. I really loved my first draft so much that i found it really difficult to write a second and third draft. I tried to change up my literacy narrative in the second and third draft but I kept parts of the first one. After changing it up in the second and third draft I still think that the first draft was the best of all.

Final Blog Post Ethnography Project

The Ethnography project was a very interesting experience for me. It was hard for me to figure out what I wanted to write about since it was so many topics, but i finally decided to choose food. After I chose what I wanted to write about it was really hard to figure out how i wanted to do it. When me and my partner decided to on something plans changed. Both of us had different ideas about how we wanted to do this project but eventually we came up with a plan that we both liked. I was hard to come up with a untraditional piece because the directions were so open, we basically had to come up with everything on our own. I would have to say that it was times where i enjoyed working on this project but I am glad that its finally over. This is the link to out video.

Blog post 8

One day for WID we read Hazel Tells Laverne. I liked this story because it was really different, a funnier version of princess and the frog. I like the way the author spoke and how it ended. This story reminded me of the stories that i used to read when i was little but it was a funnier version of it.  It reminded me of my nieces favorite movie.

Blog post 7

One day for WID we had to write about a memory, I loved this assignment because its easy for me to write about about. I decided to write about a memory that makes me laugh and i thought about my grandmother who passed away a few years ago. It was about how me and my grandmother were in the kitchen one day I was spinning around in the stools while i was drinking water and she told me to stop but i didn't and i eventually fell and spilled the water all over me and we both laughed so hard about it.  I enjoyed writing about a good time that me and my grandmother had together since I loved being at her house and spending time with her. I think its important to have funny memories they can help you get through hard times and put a smile on your face when you are sad. I really loved this assignment.

This is one of my favorite places to eat on this campus. I eat there at least once a week. This is a place where you can enjoy food and hang out with your friends at the same time. Eating together is a way you can get to know different people.

Ethnography project

For our project me and Bryan decide that we wanted to work with the topic of food. We met in the library and discussed what we wanted to do for our projects, we decided that it would be four stories from different point of views that tie together.

Ethnography Project-o J
1)  People/friends at UNCC eating lunch having lunch.
They begin to ponder and think where their food came from. 3 stories surround the main idea. One student comes up and explains where food is grown and how it is made, delivered to farmers markets/stores, bought by the consumer, and made. Another student comes up and explains how their family is in financial hardship and is on food stamps, explains impact. A final student comes up and discusses the food waste in America and how it is a shame, volunteer at soup kitchens/meals on wheels.
2)  Process of growing, buying, cooking/making food.
Second student explains food is grown on farms, many problems facing farmers, financial hardships, competition, droughts and floods. How food is then “protected” with pesticides, picked, packaged, and sent to local stores or farmers markets. How then the consumer purchases the food and then goes home and makes a meal.
3)  Families struggling to purchase food/uses food stamps.
Third student comes up and tells them how fortunate they are to be able to buy their own food with their own money, explains family is in financial hardship and on food stamps. Says the many problems and challenges they face; family members out of jobs, single parents, etc.
4)  People wasting food, interconnection with families struggling.
Finally, the last student comes up and points out others and say how they are wasting food and there are people struggling, even starving on campus and surrounding areas. Enlightens students and they volunteer at a local soup kitchen.

After we decided what we wanted to do we walked to different places on campus and take pictures.
