Final Reflective Blog Post
Throughout this semester we have had many assignments that we had to do, and most of them I enjoyed doing. Even though I enjoyed these assignment i did a few moments of wobble. Theses moments were two of our biggest grades. The first was writing my second and third draft of my literacy narrative, it took me a long time to figure out how i wanted to do it and what i wanted to write about because I loved the first draft so much that it was hard for me to rewrite it. I still completed the assignment but until this day I still like my first draft better because I really showed a side on me that I don't like to show a lot of people. I am glad that I eventually got though it. I really enjoyed this semester and I am sad that this class is ending but it couldn't last forever. I hope everyone has a great rest of the year.

Literacy Narrative Reflection
Writing my literacy narrative was one of the things I enjoyed doing most in this class. It was challenging to figure out what I wanted to write about but once I got inspired I decided to use a metaphor and wrote about a hard time in my life and how it relates to writing it ended up being a really great paper. I really loved my first draft so much that i found it really difficult to write a second and third draft. I tried to change up my literacy narrative in the second and third draft but I kept parts of the first one. After changing it up in the second and third draft I still think that the first draft was the best of all.
Final Blog Post Ethnography Project
The Ethnography project was a very interesting experience for me. It was hard for me to figure out what I wanted to write about since it was so many topics, but i finally decided to choose food. After I chose what I wanted to write about it was really hard to figure out how i wanted to do it. When me and my partner decided to on something plans changed. Both of us had different ideas about how we wanted to do this project but eventually we came up with a plan that we both liked. I was hard to come up with a untraditional piece because the directions were so open, we basically had to come up with everything on our own. I would have to say that it was times where i enjoyed working on this project but I am glad that its finally over. This is the link to out video.

Blog post 8
One day for WID we read Hazel Tells Laverne. I liked this story because it was really different, a funnier version of princess and the frog. I like the way the author spoke and how it ended. This story reminded me of the stories that i used to read when i was little but it was a funnier version of it. It reminded me of my nieces favorite movie.

One day for WID we had to write about a memory, I loved this assignment because its easy for me to write about about. I decided to write about a memory that makes me laugh and i thought about my grandmother who passed away a few years ago. It was about how me and my grandmother were in the kitchen one day I was spinning around in the stools while i was drinking water and she told me to stop but i didn't and i eventually fell and spilled the water all over me and we both laughed so hard about it. I enjoyed writing about a good time that me and my grandmother had together since I loved being at her house and spending time with her. I think its important to have funny memories they can help you get through hard times and put a smile on your face when you are sad. I really loved this assignment.

This is one of my favorite places to eat on this campus. I eat there at least once a week. This is a place where you can enjoy food and hang out with your friends at the same time. Eating together is a way you can get to know different people.

Ethnography project
For our project me and Bryan decide that we wanted to work with the topic of food. We met in the library and discussed what we wanted to do for our projects, we decided that it would be four stories from different point of views that tie together.
Ethnography Project-o J
1) People/friends at UNCC eating lunch
having lunch.
They begin to ponder and think where their
food came from. 3 stories surround the main idea. One student comes up and
explains where food is grown and how it is made, delivered to farmers
markets/stores, bought by the consumer, and made. Another student comes up and
explains how their family is in financial hardship and is on food stamps,
explains impact. A final student comes up and discusses the food waste in
America and how it is a shame, volunteer at soup kitchens/meals on wheels.
2) Process of growing, buying,
cooking/making food.
Second student explains food is grown on
farms, many problems facing farmers, financial hardships, competition, droughts
and floods. How food is then “protected” with pesticides, picked, packaged, and
sent to local stores or farmers markets. How then the consumer purchases the
food and then goes home and makes a meal.
3) Families struggling to purchase
food/uses food stamps.
Third student comes up and tells them how
fortunate they are to be able to buy their own food with their own money,
explains family is in financial hardship and on food stamps. Says the many
problems and challenges they face; family members out of jobs, single parents,
etc.
4) People wasting food,
interconnection with families struggling.
Finally, the last student comes up and points
out others and say how they are wasting food and there are people struggling,
even starving on campus and surrounding areas. Enlightens students and they
volunteer at a local soup kitchen.
After we decided what we wanted to do we walked to different places on campus and take pictures.

mapping assignment
In class on Tuesday we were told to find literacy on campus, so i decided to go to my favorite building on campus, the student union. As i walked through the union i saw lots of things like signs promoting events around campus, Halloween decorations everywhere, different places to eat food, people doing homework or just simply hanging out with their friends, and i could even hear someone playing the piano in the piano room. There are many different types of people in the the union also, who have different backgrounds.

Blog post 6
This week I decided that I want to talk about being determined and not loosing my way. Before I came to uncc I was given different speeches from various family members telling me not to loose my way and stay focus, of course I thought I was grown and knew everything and said i was going to be okay. When I got here I slowly started to loose my way, I forgot the real reason I came to college. I would stay out late and kept putting off doing my work until it started to stack up. I still thought that I could handle it until I saw that I failed all of my first test, the person i was becoming wasn't the real me. I finally realized that I was the one getting myself in trouble instead of partying I should've got my work done. I became really sad and told myself that I was going to give up and not return next fall, but then I thought about it, I dont want to go back home and stay there forever I came to college to get an education. I wasn't just going to give up because times got hard I was going to stay determined and make it through. Your college experience is what you make of it so from now on im going to stay determined because I know I can be a great student and succeed. I hope other people that are going through hard times realized why they came to college and stay determined to be sucessful in life.

Midterm Assignment
For our midterm assignment me and my writting gruop met at Adkins Library at 9:30 am. When we met we didnt know what we wanted to use as our mentor text. We decided to walk around until we see what we would find. Eventually we decided to go to the 6th floor of the library to find a book. We picked up a lot of book but we didnt like them, then after 30 minutes of searching we came across a book called "There once lived a woman who tried to kill her neighbors baby". It was a book about scary fairy tales. Nora read a story to us and we wrote one of our own. I really enjoyed this assignment even though I didnt think that I would. I had a lot of fun searching for books in the library. I been in the library a few times to study and do homework but I learned somethimg new about the library, I had no clu that the library had some many floors. I even checked out one of the books that I found. I'm really happy that we did this assignment.

Blog Post 5
One of or assignments this week was to read "Two Questions" by Barry and do a visual Double entry. I liked this assignment; I could really relate to it. I often question myslef while I'm writting. I always worry about if what im saying is interesting enough, or is it too personal and people will judge me because i say certain things. I question myself so much that its very difficult for me to write, its like writing is a burden to me. I think that a lot of people think the same thing also. I really enjoyed reading this.

One day we read a poem in class, and i really liked it. It made me want to write a peom of my own even though I'm not good at poetry. It was one of the few peoms that i read that I actually like. It wasn't to long and it wasn't boring either. It was easy to understand. It made me think about where I grew up in the counrty. I really dont like having to read something thats really hard to understand. I feel like it's pointless for me to even read it if I cant understand it enough to get anything from it. But, I will definatly hold on to this poem.

Blog Post 3
One of our assignmets this week was a literacy dig. In the assignment we had to choose 5 objects and tell how they were realted to literacy. The objects i chose were:
- Smiley face pillow- I made the pillow all by myself in my sewing class. It was a project that took me the whole semester to complete. While im reading a book in my room I lay on this pillow.
- Virgo Cup- My sign is Virgo and it was one of my graduation presents from my big sister. It made me happy that she took the time out of her day to buy it for me. It got me interested in zodiac signs and learning more about them.
- Key Chain- I went to six flags for the first time; it was the first time i had ever been to and amusement park. When I got on the roller coaster I was realy scared but it was a lot of fun. Now I love roller coasters and I'm always looking for new ones to come out so i can ride them.
- Cell Phone- My phone is my main thing that keeps me in touch with the outside world. I love to text and get on fb and sometimes twitter so I can see what is going on in the world.
- TV- My aunt gave it to me before I went away to college. It relates to pop culture; in my free time I watch a lot of TV shows, most of them are reality shows. It's another good way to keep up with news and celebrities.

In our English class we had an assignment where we had to read to selections and answer questions while we were reading. The questions were about our reading process, like what we do while we do before, during, and after we read. We had to read Carpet is Mungers, and Living like Weasels. We had to answer questions like how we felt about doing the reading, what was our location while we were reading , and how we felt after we read. I personally didn't like the reading. I really didn't understand what was going on. It's hard for me to understand things that I read when I'm not really interested in it. As I was reading I really wanted to go to sleep so that made it even harder to understand, but I eventually finished reading.

Blog post #1
I wanted my first blog post to be about my neighborhood as a child. I moved back in forth between a lot of different houses but this neighborhood was the best. In my day book I wrote about how we used to play outside until it was dark and the things I learned from the people around me. I really enjoyed writing about this, it was the first time in a while that I actually enjoyed writing about something. When I go to that neighborhood I get a feeling of comfort like I'm at home even though I don't live there anymore so when I had to write about it I enjoyed thinking about my childhood. Also as part of the assignment we had to draw a picture of my neighborhood.
